ECLIPSE solution

Setting the stage for the ECLIPSE solution

Digitalization is revolutionizing the energy sector by transforming consumers from passive receptors into active participants in the energy system. ECPLIPSE’s consumer applications play a pivotal role in this transformation as they will be providing consumers with real-time insights, personalized recommendations, and tools to optimize energy consumption, enhance grid resilience and integrate renewable energy sources, such as solar photovoltaic panels, or home batteries.

Building on CERF: A Strong Foundation for Consumer Empowerment

An essential foundation for ECLIPSE’s work is the report “Towards a CERF for Consumer Applications” by Expert Group 3 of the Smart Grid Task Force and the first-generation Common European Reference Framework (CERF) blueprint developed under the InterConnect project. This blueprint outlines a practical framework for implementing CERF, including technical and non-technical guidelines on system architecture, Minimum Viable Product conditions, business uses cases, and data sources.

Advancing CERF Across Europe: Research, Compliance, and Implementation

ECLIPSE applies these principles and is advancing the CERF by demonstrating and operationalizing it across 17 EU countries. Concretely, ECLIPSE partners have been performing an extensive review of relevant projects, initiatives, regulations and consumer-oriented platforms to identify the requirements of the CERF in terms of legal compliance, usability, performance, and data.
