How can digital energy solutions support consumers and contribute to a more flexible energy system?
This was one of the questions addressed during the 11th “Measurements and Diagnostics in Power Grids” Conference, held on 21–22 May 2026 in Dźwirzyno, Poland, where TAURON Dystrybucja represented the ECLIPSE DIGITAL project.
Organised by the Polish Society for Electricity Transmission and Distribution (PTPiREE), the conference brought together around 340 participants from across the energy sector, including TSOs, DSOs, engineering companies, measuring equipment manufacturers, technical universities and other energy market stakeholders.
Bringing ECLIPSE DIGITAL closer to the energy community
As part of Session V: “Implementation in Theory and Practice”, Krzysztof Biernot and Andrzej Olszewski from TAURON Dystrybucja presented “ECLIPSE – a project integrating requirements for energy applications”, introducing the project and its approach to supporting more interoperable and user-oriented energy applications.
A key focus of the presentation was the Common European Reference Framework (CERF) and its role in ECLIPSE DIGITAL Project. CERF provides a common reference for integrating requirements for energy applications, helping address the need for more consistent and interoperable digital solutions across the European energy ecosystem.
From the European framework to a real-world pilot
The presentation also showcased concrete developments from the ECLIPSE Polish pilot, demonstrating how the project’s concepts are being translated into practical digital functionalities. TAURON presented new features implemented in the eLicznik application, including:
- Tariff Advisor.
- Alerts for micro-consumers.
- G14d functionality.
These features are designed to provide consumers with more relevant information about their energy use and support them in making more informed decisions, contributing to voluntary flexibility.
By presenting these developments in the context of a real-world pilot, TAURON highlighted the link between ECLIPSE’s European-level framework and its practical application for energy consumers.
Connecting research, industry and energy stakeholders
The conference provided an important opportunity to present ECLIPSE DIGITAL to a broad audience of professionals working across the electricity sector. The participation of TSOs, DSOs, technology and engineering companies, research organisations and other market actors created a valuable space for knowledge sharing and stakeholder engagement.
The event also contributed to raising awareness of the potential of CERF and digital energy applications, while providing an opportunity to exchange perspectives on the challenges and opportunities involved in implementing digital solutions in real-world energy systems.
TAURON’s participation demonstrates the importance of bringing European research and innovation closer to the organisations and professionals working on the energy transition on the ground.
Through its pilot activities and engagement with the wider energy community, ECLIPSE DIGITAL continues to explore how common frameworks, digital tools and user-centred solutions can contribute to a more flexible, interoperable and digitally enabled European energy system.
