The ECLIPSE DIGITAL Project’s Work Package 3 establishes the technical foundations and functional blueprint for the Common European Reference Framework (CERF), acting as the “connective tissue” for a unified European energy market. By moving from user requirements to technical specifications, WP3 provides a replicable roadmap that ensures seamless interoperability through a multi-layered architecture based on the Smart Energy Grid Architecture Model (SGAM) and the Hourglass Model.
The framework leverages global standards—such as CIM and ETSI SAREF—alongside open-source reusable connectors to create a borderless environment where data flows securely between apps, grid operators, and IoT devices. Central to this mission is the creation of a “Fabric of Trust,” which integrates proactive cybersecurity, privacy-by-design, and data sovereignty.
Ultimately, WP3 lays the digital groundwork for a resilient energy transition, empowering citizens to manage their energy data with total confidence.
