How can digital energy services make it easier for customers to understand and manage their energy use?
On 18 September 2026, CEZ Distribuce organised an online workshop in Prague to present the latest features developed for its Proud mobile application within the ECLIPSE DIGITAL project. The session brought together around 60 employees involved in customer relations, app development and testing, creating an opportunity to demonstrate the new functionalities and gather feedback for further improvements.
Evolving Proud through ECLIPSE DIGITAL Project
Already used by more than 220,000 customers, Proud is an established digital channel for CEZ Distribuce, with more than 190,000 interactions every month. Through ECLIPSE DIGITAL, the application is being further developed to offer customers more personalised and useful energy services, following the principles of the Common European Reference Framework (CERF).
The Czech pilot is being carried out across CEZ Distribuce’s service area, covering around 52,000 km² and more than 3.7 million supply points. This provides a large-scale environment for testing new ways of helping households and businesses understand and manage their energy consumption.
Bringing new energy services to the app
The workshop introduced participants to the new features developed within the ECLIPSE DIGITAL project. These include functionalities aimed at providing customers with clearer information and more personalised support, such as:
- Personalised tariff recommendations, helping users identify potentially more suitable distribution tariffs.
- Consumption predictions, providing forecasts based on historical consumption and meteorological data.
- Advanced data visualisation, with 15-minute consumption measurements to help users identify patterns and trends.
- Gamification features, encouraging energy efficiency through challenges, achievements and rewards.
- Disaster and emergency notifications, providing users with information about power outages and their expected resolution.
Together, these functionalities contribute to a more interactive and user-centred digital energy experience, bringing CERF-based services directly to consumers through an existing app.
Feedback from those closest to customers
A key objective of the workshop was not only to present the new features, but also to collect feedback for further fine-tuning of the application.
Around 60 participants joined the session, including colleagues working in customer relations, field technicians and customer contact centre staff. Their direct experience with customers led to an interactive discussion, with numerous questions and comments throughout the presentation.
Following the workshop, participants will receive a survey to gather additional feedback and support the next evaluation and development activities. The session was also recorded so that other CEZ Distribuce colleagues can access the content internally.
From a Czech pilot to a European framework
The continued development of Proud illustrates how ECLIPSE DIGITAL is translating the CERF into practical digital services for energy consumers.
By combining smart meter data, customer feedback and new digital functionalities, the Czech pilot is testing how energy applications can provide information that is not only accessible, but also meaningful and actionable for users.
Through these developments, CEZ Distribuce is contributing real-world experience to the wider ECLIPSE DIGITAL effort to create more interoperable and consumer-oriented digital energy services across Europe.
