ECLIPSE at MIPRO

ECLIPSE joins the green transition dialogue at MIPRO 2025

The ECLIPSE project made its presence felt at the 48th MIPRO ICT and Electronics Convention, held from June 2–3, 2025, in Opatija, Croatia. As part of the “Green Transition of the Power System – R&D Projects” programme, the event brought together key players from the electricity and ICT sectors to explore the technological and regulatory challenges of the green energy transition.

ECLIPSE partner HOPS, Croatia’s transmission system operator, presented the project in a dedicated session, focusing on its strategic role in supporting grid transformation through smarter digital infrastructure and consumer engagement.

A Platform for Green Innovation

MIPRO 2025 served as a meeting point for industry professionals, policymakers, and researchers navigating the complex landscape of energy sector deregulation and decarbonization. With themes such as distributed generation, system balancing, market integration, and the rise of prosumers, the convention highlighted the growing pressure on system operators to innovate through collaborative R&D.

ECLIPSE in the Spotlight

HOPS’ presentation covered the overarching goals of the ECLIPSE project, developing a Common European Reference Framework (CERF) to support interoperable, user-focused energy applications. The session emphasized the importance of integrating end-user insights into the grid management process, enabling a more resilient and flexible energy ecosystem.

The audience showed particular interest in the mobile application under development within ECLIPSE, designed to empower consumers to monitor and optimize their energy consumption. The Croatian pilot site, where this application will be tested, was recognized as a promising step toward deeper public engagement in energy efficiency efforts.

Key Takeaways

Participants welcomed ECLIPSE’s vision of placing consumers at the center of the green transition. The positive reception of the project’s objectives, particularly in enabling greater transparency, real-time energy monitoring, and active user participation; underscored the growing recognition of the value of digital tools in transforming energy systems.

HOPS’ role in the project and its active involvement in aligning transmission operations with the goals of the ECLIPSE framework further demonstrated Croatia’s commitment to EU energy transition objectives.

Looking Ahead

As Europe moves toward a more distributed and digitalized energy landscape, events like MIPRO underscore the critical importance of cross-sector collaboration. With partners like HOPS, ECLIPSE continues to drive innovation that empowers both grid operators and end-users.

The MIPRO Convention not only offered a platform to showcase ECLIPSE’s progress, but also fostered new opportunities for dialogue and potential future collaborations to advance shared goals in energy sustainability and efficiency.
